COMMUNITY PROJECT
EDUCATE THE
COMMUNITY.

The Proud Community Project, in partnership with Stratford Perth Pride, is developing a 2SLGBTQ+ Inclusion and Equity Training Program—and we want your input. Please help spread the word about this project by sharing this email with anyone/everyone who you think might be interested.

This 2–4 hour training is being created for local organizations, businesses, public programs, and municipal representatives within Stratford and the surrounding regions of Perth and Huron Counties. Our goal is to develop a meaningful, regionally specific resource that reflects the lived realities of our diverse 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

To do that, we’re hosting a series of community consultations—in person and online—throughout August and September. These sessions will guide the workshop content and ensure it responds directly to the needs, gaps, and aspirations of those who live and work in the area.

Food and refreshments will be provided at all in-person consultations.

Whether you’ve faced barriers, have ideas for improving services, or just want to help shape something powerful—your voice matters. We especially want to hear from community members who are racialized, rural, youth, elders, trans, disabled, service workers, and anyone connected to local queer and trans experiences.

The consultations will be facilitated by our in-house Workshop Developer: Markus Harwood-Jones. Markus (he/they) is a queer and trans author, artist, and academic who specializes in workshop-based education and community storytelling. He can be found online under the handle @Markusbones.

In addition to guiding our current training project, these sessions are a chance to dream together. While our current funding is limited to this workshop, we’re planting seeds for future programming—things like art nights, nature walks, support groups, and more. We want to get your ideas!

If you would like to attend a consultation, we invite you to register in advance. Please note, registration is not required to attend.

Can’t make a session? You can still send us your ideas or feedback through our anonymous survey.
